Each generation has to start out with 0 Simoleons.

• Use cheats to achieve this: Press CTRL + SHIFT + C to open cheat panel. For some computers it might also be  CTRL + SHIFT + Windows button + C. Write “Money 0” in the white panel that pops up in the left top corner of your game without the quotation marks and press enter.

Rags to riches, making money and careers

• You need to earn money by scavenging, crafting and selling items or skills to get money and survive the first part of this challenge for every generation. This can be scavenging for plants, collectibles, crystals or singing/playing instruments for tips for example or any other means where you can make money in the game by crafting and selling things. Make sure the scavenging or crafting option you choose actually belongs to the specific expansion pack your generation is playing in. 

• You can join a career for your Legacy/Generation Matriarch/Patriarch and/or their spouse after your household has either:

  • 20.000 Simoleons or

  • Has a house with

    • Roof

    • Floors with floor paint on all floors 

    • Walls with wall paint on all walls including exterior 

    • One bathroom with walls and toilet, shower/bath, sink

    • Kitchen with fridge, stove/microwave/grill, one kitchen counter

    • Beds for each sim in household

    • A desk and chair

    • TV, computer or radio

    • 1 skill item

    • 1 selling table

    • Mailbox

    • Outdoor bin

• Joining a career is not mandatory, you can play this as a rags to riches only challenge if you want. But for those who want to explore new careers, this is advised to get the full experience of each new pack.

Moving and adding sims

• If another sim joins your household either as friends, adoption, family member or spouse you can not add any of the money from their previous household. Leave the money to the household they left.

• If someone moving in has biological or adopted children you must move all their children in with them as your new step-children. If there are children who belong to someone else in the household they leave you do not need to move them in. Step children can not become Gen Matriarch/Patriarch.

• If someone moves into your household and has pets of any kind, you can choose to move them in if you want. That also goes for sheep, goats, cows, llamas and chickens. You can put goats, chicken and sheep in the sims inventory before they move and they will come with them to the new household.

• If they have a cow or llama, you can add a llama or cow to your lot and add 400 simoleons to cancel out the cow/llama cost. The shed cost 500 simoleons and the cow/llama cost 400 simoleons. You still have to pay for the shed to be “built” on your lot. So make sure you can afford the shed before deciding to “move” a cow/llama. 

• You can only add news sims to the world to fill in the world BEFORE starting your Legacy Matriarch/Patriarch gameplay and once before every Gen Matriarch/Patriarch takes over in case there are too few sims in the world. Don’t worry though, as full automation, neighborhood stories and normal lifespan will be turned on, your neighbors will be born, grow up and die with your legacy household so you will have plenty of new friends and suitors! :)

• You should organically experience the relationships in the game, not make and place the perfect partner for your Legacy or Gen Matriarch/Patriarch.
